Os estudos científicos confirmam a eficácia de cortar carboidratos

A grande popularidade de várias dietas low carb (Atkins, South Beach, etc), bem como de best sellers como “Protein Power” (livo excelente, aliás), já nos dá uma dica que tais dietas são eficazes. No entanto, tenho a pretensão de que este blog tenha um cunho científico, de modo que a “popularidade” da dieta não será nosso critério. Vamos então analisar o que a literatura médica nos diz a respeito de 2 aspectos-chave:

1) A dieta low-carb/paleo é eficaz para perda de peso?

2) A dieta low-carb/paleo é segura do ponto de vista de saúde cardiovascular?

A resposta à primeira questão é um inequívoco SIM. Em todos os estudos nos quais uma dieta de restrição de carboidratos, isto é, restrição de açúcar e amido (farinha e derivados como pão e massa, além de batatas e arroz) foi comparada com outras dietas, o resultado foi sempre favorável à restrição de carboidratos.

Você não precisa acreditar no que eu digo. Eis uma lista de 18 estudos da melhor qualidade (prospectivos, randomizados). Em TODOS a restrição de carboidratos foi a melhor abordagem (lista compilada pelo Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt em seu excelente blog)

Não se trata de citação seletiva. Se você conhece algum estudo em que o resultado seja diferente, por favor me envie a referência – até onde eu saiba, NÃO EXISTE NENHUM estudo em que low carb não seja superior.
